Hey dude.. add me on messenger.
robert dragan luketic
i can help your ass alot🤣🤣
Hi Robert,
Thank you, I will do so. After 3 hours of turning and removing different covers etc from the engine, it is in 🎉
Today I will complete the rest step by step.
You basicly need to remove the oil fitting in bottom for draining oil and the top for return from oilpump, and then you need to find correct angle to push it in.
Helps alot to remove the oilpump, but its not neccesary. Its really tight !
but i see from pictures that you have some rust inside your engine. The cover for balance axle and the oil pipe in bottom.
why so? Make sure this doesnt break loose and block of your oilchannels
did you get any oilpressure yet? 12v or 24v shouldnt have anything to say really. Just disconnect your coils snd take out plugs for no conpression. Then you run your starter for 10-15sec to build up pressure and prime it.
if you dont have oil at oil inside your filter, id say your pump is dead…
Hi Guys!
As is said, it's runing. Oilpressure works ... 🙂 GDU is in place and refilled with oil, oilpump in the GDU is working, too.
> Next step is to install the reverse gear cable. Question: how? 😀 it's not turning at all. Is there a trick?
> what is this connector for? (in my hand) it comes out of the engine loom next to the injectors.
> i have another connector : water temp, which is not connected. Does the MBE use the stock water temp sensor underneeth the throttle bodies? If yes, can anybody tell me which pin to use? the stock sensor has two. 🙁
Do you already have a connector labelled for air temp? If not then this connector could be for that.
Is the extra water temp wire you have just a single wire with a spade connector on? If so this is for the water temp reading on the early dashes I believe. This sensor was fitted to a spacer on the thermostat housing.
Regarding your Reverse Gear Cable question... it doesn't turn... it moves in and out (push and pull)
With the actuator on the right hand side if the GDU pulled out - the gearbox is in reverse.... with the actuator pushed in the car is in forward.
@rjbender he points outs the problem turning the cable by screing it into that axle.. when you turn it , it goes clockwise when you let it go. So i explained he need to hold it with something while screing it in til its entered
@garagenwerke, I don’t know if this is your issue, but if you have the reverse cable connected properly and the lever is hard to operate, meaning the GDU is hard to put in reverse, it can be an indication that the detent ball (not sure if that is the right name) in the GDU needs to be replaced. There is a cap that unscrews on the top of the GDU that has a spring loaded ball shaped cap that helps hold the GDU in the selected position (forward or reverse). These tend to get flattened over time and makes it hard to change directions.
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com
hey C.
he is missing that cap, i told him to order it so he has the spring tension to the axle, but he was a bit confused how to put the cable on to the axle. When you try to screw it on it unscrews it self;)
i told him he need to Hold the cable, preventing it to unscrew while turning it on.
Hey guys!
Thank you so much for all these informations 👌👍
Finally I had two test drives with the car, one on an airfield, no problems at all and on Wednesday at Bilster Berg racetrack. It was OK, but I had problems with power supply and I guess fuel.
Is this fuel filter original radical? Where can I get a new filter inlay? My one is totally dirty and dead.
Is this the screw to lock the reverse gear? If yes, I thin I miss the spring and the ball. Where can I buy a new one?
@garagenwerke …. Yes. That’s the reverse gear ‘detent’ holder
im not sure where you would buy one, but here’s a picture of mine when I had it out to shorten the spring. It’s actually not a ball bearing, but a machined plug that has a ball end at one end and a spigot that goes up inside the spring on the other. Mine also has a dowry washer under the head to seal it.
If your gearbox is still in the car you’ll need a fair bit of patience to get this assembly in/out. From memory I think the hex head on that ‘detent’ holder on your picture is 19mm AF. I had to make a thin walled 19mm socket to fit mine. There is only a tiny space between the hex head and the gearbox casing it screws into, and a normal socket is large diameter to fit. I couldn’t get a 3/8” socket drive down onto the socket either, so I welded a 10mm AF nut to the top of the socket and then used a 10mm ratchet wrench to undo it … and do it up again. Worked really well. I could get a photo of this socket tomorrow if that helps…..

DAMN!
That is exactly what i am looking for 🙁
Can i buy it directly at Quaife? or does anybody has a contact for that?
OK,
Fuel filter overhauled with a metal inlay instead of paper, you can get it for example from the German shop BARTEK. The fuel filter used in the radical is a sytec motorsport filter without sytec label. It is 100% the same part.
New question:
I think my generator isn't charging. The wires are getting really hot when the engine is running. I fitted a new Battery, but with running engine the volt is only 12.54v. When I turned of the engine it is 12.61v.
Normally, like in cars, I would suggest round about 13v when the engine is turning?! Am I wrong?
I found only those 3 wires which I connected to the generator randomly?!

The best place to get these is from your Radical dealer. These have changed designs a bit over the year so your Radical dealer should be able to help you find the correct one for your GDU.

@garagenwerke, Yes it sounds like your car isn't charging. Do you have a 12v car or a 24v car? Regarding your fuel filter, I would recommend checking the filter rating to make sure it is fine enough to be used with Fuel injection. There is another recent post on here where a Forum member had clogged fuel injectors because the filter he had wasn't fine enough to filter out the harmful partials. The metal screened filters usually don't have enough filtering capability. It is worth a check.
