SR3 Gerations

I’m new to radicals and have been looking for an overview of the different generations.  Just years they covered and the bigger changes and options.  Anyone know of something?  Mostly interested in when motors were offered, (1300-1500), sequential vs paddle, other differences.  Reliability improvements.  I have a rough idea from  reaserching it but would be nice for everyone to have something clearly defigned.

I have been working on a write up on this subject that is about 90% done.  I will post it when it is done. I can give you a short summary to help answer some of your questions.  There have been three generations. The first generation came in standard downforce and high downforce configurations (there are pictures and more details in the write up I am working on).  The early cars came with Kawasaki 1100cc engines, and there were options to get Suzuki 1300 and 1500 engines. These engines were carbureted but had the option to add Fuel Injection to the Suzuki’s.  (There were other engine options also , but these were the most common).  The second generation (SR3 RS) cars came out in 2009 (chassis number 400).  These cars had improved aerodynamics and got the improved K8 version of the Hayabusa which added about 10 hp.  These engines were most commonly ordered as 1340 or 1500.  One of the key changes that was implemented in mid 2009 was the introduction of the Life ECU which added engine data logging capabilities. I believe Fuel injection became standard in the second generatcars.  The third generation cars (SR3 RSX) came out in 2015 (Chassis 930) and had revised aerodynamics and many of the options on the earlier cars were now standard.  These cars had the same 1340 engine as the gen 2 cars, but the 1500 was changed to a short stroke design which was intended to improve performance and reliability.  However the new power band wasn’t competitive on many popular tracks.  So in 2017 Radical went back to the long stroke design.  Most Short stroke engines have been changed back to long stroke.  You can tell the cars that came as short strokes because they have a red intake and they have “SS” in the engine number.

I have a lot more details in the write up I am working on.  I just need to find the time to finish it.
