SR3 - Relay missing in charging system

From the wiring diagram for a SR3 I can see this relay shown, however I can’t find it on my car.  Therefore question is , is this relay actually required ?

Hmm, i dont have it on mine. Really see no reason to have it. When i cut power on my ecu, it shits down. And charging has no need for relay to be honest.

 

but the relay you are refering to is the starter relay. Without this you cant start

Bizarre as the diagram states “alternator” which in car engine terms I take the same as the stator/regulator/rectifier setup ?

But thanks for sharing you don’t have one on the charging side too 🙂

@djw, I looked at several versions of the wiring diagrams and they all show having this relay.  Some call it an "Alternator Isolator Relay" and some just call it an "Alternator Relay".  So you should have one somewhere.  With that said, since your car is such an early car (chassis number 14) it may have some uniqueness to it??
