Has anyone here done research on converting to electric power?  Toying with the idea of doing it on my SR4.  I'm running some numbers on weight, run time, motor type, etc. and would be curious to see if anyone else has looked into this.

@johnsopa Sounds fascinating! I've got my older SR8 just taking up space...  🤔

Here's a link to one such project if you haven't seen this: https://www.elmofo.com.au/electric-radical

Dang, my search fu is terrible -- I did not see that before.

I love how there's wheel spin for the first 100' or so.

Their specs are spot on with what I was looking to accomplish -- 1 hr charge, 15 - 20 min runtime.  I prob don't need quite as much power as they spec'd.  I'll get in touch with them.

Thanks for the link, John!  @parsonsj

HI John, There are four Radicals that I am aware of that have been converted to Electric power.

1) The first car is the Elmofo car that John mentioned.  This car is chassis number SR800183.  Here is a little more information on it.  https://radicalsportscarregistry.com/sr800183-elomofo/

2) The second car was built by Toyota in 2011 and was called TMG EV P001.  Here is some information on that car.

TMG Motorsport TMG EV P001 5
TMG Motorsport TMG EV P001 2
TMG Motorsport TMG EV P001 1

3)  The third car was called SR0 and here is some information on it.

1
2
3
4

4) The fourth car is an SR3 RSX that is in the Sonoma area.  I ran into the owner at Laguna Seca a few years ago and he told met that he took the power unit and batteries from a Formula E car and put it into the SR3.  The car is stored at Radical Northwest so they may be able to give you some more information on it.

Charley

Charley, very helpful, thanks.  The pictures give good insight on motor cooling, etc.
