@jwb

Hopefully you can watch this in SA. Looks like the car was raced from 2005-7, although I’m assuming Austin only ever had the one car during that period. I managed to find some results on TSL timing with a bit of digging.

@parsonsj  Hi John... I have Quaife gearbox up for rebuild.  But the parts prices alone are almost $20K so not sure if that is worth it.   I am thinking of purchasing a new or rebuild Hewland.   Would the "adaptation" of the Hewland be a very difficult job to accomplish?

@diegocuestas Hi Diego. To swap in a Hewland JFR201 you'd need the following: 1) adapter plate from the bell to the gearbox, 2) custom axles (Hewland on the inside, Radical SR8 on the outside), 3) modified rear body carrier (the Quaife version won't fit the Hewland), 4) Radical to Hewland clutch shaft, and 5) some custom ECU programming, wiring, and plumbing.

Can it be done? Yes. I can help, Hans Bliss can help, Dan Phillips at RLM can help, Alex Heavens can help. Will it be less expensive than fixing your Quaife? Probably not. It's a project with unknowns, and Hewland stuff is just as expensive as Quaife. I do think it's worth doing because the Hewland is a better gearbox, but I don't think it makes sense from a pure cost perspective. Reach out to me privately if you want to talk on the phone about this.
