Running E85 in small %
@meatman aha. So its just slighty different compression i assume from 1300? Im running turbo now on my 1300, was thinking to go e50, but i see no point with all that mixing hussle and carying extra fuel since mine is roadlegal. But would be cool to have flexfuel setup.
is it a must or just recomended to go 100octane on that engine?
Posted by: @parsonsjThere are no provisions for knock sensors on Hayabusa engines, so there's no way to detect detonation, and so there's no ability to reduce timing. That's true for all the ECUs (OEM, MBE, Life, ECUMaster, MoTeC, etc.).
There we go, thanks John. That awnsers the whole thread. 👍
Besides the turbo project thread on the forum here, have you seen it heard of anyone adding a set sensor to the aftermarket ECUs?

Just did a quick reread, the 100 octane looks like it might be just for the 1500 engine.
Posted by: @parsonsj@meatman The next question is what octane are we talking about? British? or American? Check out this article.
Spoiler: 100 UK is about 95 in the US.
I was unaware of that difference in ratings. In Canada the highest at the pump is 94 octane and it notorious for being very poor quality at that.
Geez. Now we have to figure out if Canada uses the UK or US octane standard! 🤣 🤣
Edit: Canada uses the US standard. 😀
Here in norway we have 98octane pump gas. I guess thats the same as 95 in us? Slightly better?
germany has 102 pump gas.
on the turbo project i have compensations/ corrections for ignition and fueling depending on temperatures, pressure and so on yes. But i cant use the knocksensor. Its just not possible. Due to all internal noises.
But i have lambdaguard and corrections depending on other stuff
Posted by: @parsonsjDan -- you need to find out exactly what kind of gasoline you're using. Is it Sunoco GT 260? GT 260 Plus? Or are you using leaded race gas? Have a look here... this chart lists the Sunoco gasoline along with other information.
Ok, back on track again after sitting out the hot summer. FYI - Sunoco 260 GT fuel at pump at Eagles Canyon Raceway outside Decatur, TX. I assume this is acceptable given your reference above. Will find out over the next few weeks the exact fuel at MSR Cresson and COTA for reference because they look different.
Yes, the Sunoco GT 260 gas is a good match for our cars.
What about 260 GTX, is that good or bad? The pump shows 100 octane but the label says 98. It is the only fuel at MSR Houston.
I ran GTX all year. The difference is a lack of ethanol and thus lower oxygen content. At Houston that likely doesn't matter since you aren't at altitude. Also helps keep everything cleaner inside with no ethanol.
Yes the GTX gas will be fine. Keep in mind that adding ethanol is an inexpensive way to increase octane.
GT Plus is rated at 104, GT is 100, and GTX is 98 octane.
GT Plus is 13% ethanol, GT is 10% ethanol, and GTX has no ethanol.
