So it is time for the old girl to get some upgrades after 200hrs of very reliable trackday fun and also as a reward to myself for the long hours of work over the past year due to covid.

(12 mths ago)
First up was an engine rebuild. The culprit was the head gasket and also a valve issue so off it went to a local drag racer that specialises in the Suzuki engines for a botton end refresh and some head work.

Engine was fitted back in and the mess of the wiring annoyed me so I booked it in for a complete new loom which was expected to take 6 months.

While waiting I decided that a new trailer was required as I'd really like to try some interstate circuits. So over several months and lots of design revisions I had a trailer built.

While getting things ready I noticed that the side pods were not in very good shape and needed repairs and after a month they came back looking like this.

Then 2 weeks out from this appointment the government decided to do some hard lockdowns and state border closures so I had to cancel this. Luckily a local workshop was able to fit me in within a month and this brings us to the present day.

With next to zero mechanical or electrical knowledge I'm trusting this workshop and the experience they have with high performance imports, crazy time attack cars and custom dyno tuning and firmware knowledge. The configuration we have come up with is the following:

Motec M150 ECU
Motec E888 Expander
Motec CDI 4 Channel
Motec PDM15
Motec C127

Motec Lambda To Can LSU
Bosch Lambda Wideband LSU4.9 x2
Motec Thermocouple x4

Motec Steering Angle Sensor kit
Bosch Oil pressure and temp
Bosch Fuel pressure and temp
Bosch Diff oil pressure and temp
Bosch Coolant pressure and temp
Bosch Wheel speed x2
Honeywell Brake pressure

Jenvey DBW conversion kit

Megalife Motorsports Lithium Battery

Complete custom wiring loom with engine autosport connector

Tyco battery isolator

Etesta GPS8V2 50Hz GPS

The loom is in the design stages and parts are starting to be ordered.
Due to covid restrictions I won't be able to follow the build in person as much as I would like (or at all) and I expect it all to take approx 8-10 weeks.

Wish me luck.

Beautiful trailer! You should definitely consult John Parsons on here that put motec on his SR8. I should surely think there is a good deal that will carry over, like the Jenvey setup.

Excited to see where this goes. Bummer you can't be more involved with the build but I'm sure you will be once the hardware is in place.

That's a familiar-looking list of components! I like it! I would make a couple of suggestions:

1. Put 4 wheel speed sensors in. The M150 has enough inputs, and then you'll be set for advanced data analysis (oversteer vs understeer, front vs rear brake locking, etc.) along with traction control and/or ABS should you want it later.

2. Consider AT Power throttles and their DBW servo. I fought my Jenveys for years, and have switched to AT Power this past summer.

3. And finally: have your loom made with an AUX connection (DTM 12 with CAN, 5V, corresponding GND, and connections to unused digital and analogue inputs). Then you won't have to tear the loom apart if you want to add something later.

Keep those pictures coming!

Oh, just curious: what firmware are you going to use with your M150? GPRP? RDS? Something else?
