Did the upright crack at the welds or is it the bearing that failed?

@ntf3000, @davidf,

It appears the upright started to fail at the weld on the bottom side of the wheel bearing carrier.  The stresses then ripped the entire bottom support away.  Who knows how long I had been driving as this crack developed.  The first time I noticed it was half way through my race, as I entered a turn, I felt something slow me down suddenly.  Turns out it was my brake disc hitting the upright and lower wishbone.  Looking at this again, I'm really lucky it held together long enough to finish the day and get it home.

The uprights are not replaced on time, but mileage.  6000km.  Oddly, this upright was not expired and has another 1400 miles left.  Date code 10/2018.  I don't hit curbs on purpose, but it inevitably happens, as do occasional off-track adventures, so I think these really need to be inspected regularly.

Thank you for the pictures -- very compelling evidence to keep an eye on the uprights.

Radical should provide an update/fix for these.
