Stack dash "mem battery" uh oh
Please tell me a solution has been figured out over the years instead of sending it back to stack.
Awe crap... The battery is soldered to the backside of the board, and although the dash was working normally I do see a burnt spot on the board too.
The black square box is the internal battery.
I hate to say it but it looks like it is time to upgrade to an Aim dash. Or if you like this dash perhaps you could send it to Stack for repair?
Yeesh... anybody got a used one kicking around? Or a parts donor?
Josh, I've got a refurbished Stack dash from my 2009 SR8 with a new battery. Let me know if you have any interest.
Well, this happened....
Agreed, the AiM stuff is way better than the 15 years old Stack stuff. That's why my Stack dash is in a box! Anyway, do let us know how the install goes. I found the MXS to be a tight fit with all the tubes and and related stuff under the dash.
I am uninstalling the stack stuff and this wire runs to the back of the car to something. It's hidden in a taped up wire loom so I can't follow it back.
Anyone know what this wire is for on the stack loom?
I'm wondering if I can ship it and tape it up and not undo the whole wrapped up loom.
I suppose engine speed...
@meatman Engine speed seems likely. You'll need to connect your AiM dash to the Life ECU CANbus for engine speed (along with gear position, coolant temp, oil temp and pressure, etc.). Or you could connect second sensors and bypass the ECU...
My ecu is a factory 'busa ecu. I will be tap'ing into the diagnostic port for most of the data. There is an oil pressure but no oil temp so I will proabably use my aftermarket sensors for that.
@meatman Ah, yes. That should work really well. Good luck with it!
Okay, what a long road this has been, I've had to send the unit back to Aim 2X for warranty work after buying a brand new unit....
But here we are.... Job done'ish. 😉
