Is it possible to update a PR6 to the GDU to replace the chain drive ?  Does Radical offer a kit ?  I will only be doing track days and want to reduce track side maintenance during 2 day events. The weight gain is worth it to me.

Weight gain is one thing, cost to make it happen is another!

chains are very reliable, but I do have to take the rear off after each run to lube the chain.

Hi AJ (@acubic01),  I don't think Radical makes a kit for this and I don't know anyone that has put one into a PR6.  But, you might want to contact Russ McBride (@russmcb)  and check out this post about his adventures adding a GDU to his Formula car. https://radicalsportscarregistry.com/radicalforum/sr3-specific-discussions/sr3-differential-in-a-ralt-formula-super/

If you decide you want to try, I know someone that is selling a used GDU... Although even used they are pretty expensive...

Chains are not a big maintenance item. The change over would be a big deal. I have watched and helped Russ with his conversion, not for the faint at heart.

Thanks for the feedback.  My concerns have been developed from comments made by a Prosport owner stating that the at track maintenance of the chain system was to much to handle between track day sessions.  Not sure what his mechanical capabilities were. I have only done one track day in a street car with the tires I drove in on.  The number of sessions in a day are more than a SCCA race day.  As far as scope of the project, I'm not concerned. I am well practiced at taking on challenging projects. I have always exceeded my expectations in the final out come.

I am sure you are wondering why a PR6 ?   Well a couple of things are of interest. First and foremost I like the single seat cockpit, it is closer to what I am use to and offers more protection. Second, the power to weight ratio. A 1340cc/210 HP motor and 1058 lbs is appealing. No need to reduce engine life by searching for more power to move a heavier car along. Third is car size, I like the width of 61.02 inches, it makes the transportation logistics a little more cost effective as far as trailer/tow vehicle. I currently have no nearby tracks and would require major tows, so overall cost to travel would effects the tire budget.  I learned to cost out everything in cost of tires. It sucks to have your tires totally go off leading the end of season championship because of the cost to feed the motorhome to get there.

Oiling the chain only takes a couple of minutes, really easy. If you are concerned about it you could fit an automatic chain oiler. You'll find them on most motorcycle sites, real cheap.

They are just a small cylindrical container that drips oil directly onto the chain while running.

The tension rarely needs changed during a track day, although a new chain does need tightened more regularly until it settles in. It is however important to have it setup correctly and running true or you will have tight spot problems.

Dunc.
