Hello everyone.

New to this forum and new to owning a radical. Unfortunately i have already managed to have an off track excursion.  Ended up with the left rear hitting a tire wall and destroying some of the suspension parts and body work.

20201107 120419

Looking to see whats out there for used before I quote out new.

I plan on cataloging the parts i need as i dismantle. I will revise this thread as i go. Most is obvious from the photos.

Thanks in advance.

Ouch!!! That's a tough way to start!

Welcome to the community.  You've found the right car, nothing beats the fun factor.  Hopefully you're back on track soon.

Hi Kevin (@vec110), As we discussed I reached out to the guy that I know that has an extra rear body section to see if he is ready to sell it.  I will let you know when I hear back from him.

The biggest challenge I see in the pictures is that you have bent the chassis shock absorber mounts.  I would recommend reaching out to Spring Mountain to see if they can get those replacement parts and then find a local chassis shop to see if they weld the replacements back in the proper position.

From the pictures it looks like you will need the following parts also (and likely a few more):

1) Upper and lower A arms and rose joints.

2)Shock absorber

3) Upright

4) Rear body and possibly side pod.

5) It also looks like some of your battery wiring has been damaged so you might have ripped the battery out of the side pod or in the engine area.

6) It also looks like you will need a new axle.

7) You will also need a new rear wing and wing supports.

Hopefully some of our Forum friends have some spare parts available to help.

Charley

@ TrakMnky - Yeah this was not quite the introduction i hoped for here.  Here in CT this is the end of my season so i do have a couple months to get the car sorted out.

@Charley - Thanks for the reach out, hopefully he still has it and is willing to sell.  I will be starting dismantling this weekend.  I have the ability to weld myself so that was going to be my starting point.  although i will take your advise and see about getting those 2 small brackets from Spring Mountain.  i was planning on seeing if i could straighten then weld some braces on them to help sturdy.  I will be asking Spring Mountain to quote me the other pieces as well, but would much rather see if everyone here has some used.

thanks for all the help so far.

-Kevin

Thanks Charley,

Mine are avo as well. Is the other guy willing to sell me his spare set?

I should be getting my quote soon from spring mountain. They were running an event this past weekend.

I also have a really good fiberglass glass guy that might say he can fix my rear and side.

Sent you an email but it got kicked back so i figured id add to this post.

Update....

Radical as of May 2020 will no longer sell those suspension mount brackets to be welded by customers.

"

I’m afraid it’s a policy we cant move on. I don’t doubt he is a good welder, but we can’t supply official fabrication parts to be welded where we cant directly control the quality. Each chassis is homologated. If anything is changed and the car where we provide official parts is then sold, the customer would assume that is it factory standard, should the customer have a serious crash this would open us up to unknown risk and liability.

We appreciate and understand that customers will have crashes and they will repair and weld the cars, but we will only supply the official parts if we do the work ourselves.

"

I even provided them with my aerospace welding cert to show im not just a backyard welder. I do understand and kind of appreciate that at the same time.

Should be getting some pricing soon on the rest of the parts.  Still hoping to find some good used here.

@vec110

Any interest in an '07 SR8 chassis (#42)? Never wrecked, located in Florida. I don't know what all is involved in converting it to an SR3, but I'll make you a smoking deal on it.
