Only had my car for a few months and decided to do a fluid change and some poking around.  While nut and bolting the car I noticed the actuator is only held in by the air lines!!??!!

I've attached a couple of pics.  It appears to me like I'm missing a larger washer to keep the actuator from sliding off the end of the bolt.  Is that all I need?  The bushing appears to have about .5mm of play in it.  Is there a spec as to how much is too much?

Can't believe I've made it through a couple of weekends this way.

Can anyone take a picture of what this end looks like on their car or confirm what type of hardware is supposed to be holding it on?

Thanks!

The bearing has failed and needs to be replaced.

It has a number on it and you can just order online/from a bearing supplier.

You will need to remove the circlip, press it out and remove the insert to install in the new bearing.

Ordered the end from Straddle and replaced this weekend.  I'll be taking your suggestion and pressing in a new bearing in the old part for a spare.

Gave me an opportunity to make a 166mm tool to make sure the rod was adjusted correctly.

This car is really nice to work on!

@trakmnky and @nodrog, did either of you figure out bearing number or know the part for entire gold anodized assembly that includes the bearing? Looks like I have the same issue, I can pull mine right off the mounting point!

No, I don't see a part number anywhere.  I'll try to press whats left of the bearing out and see if there's something on that last piece.

Thanks, how did you end up fixing it? Were you able to buy just the gold end with a new bearing? Or did you have to buy an entirely new actuator (I think those are $500 through dealer)? My mechanic thinks we can fix it with a large flat washer on the end...

I bought just the gold end.  Only took a few minutes to replace.  Cost was less than half that if I remember correctly.

@trakmnky

Thanks, ordered this morning. As of today, here are the part numbers and pricing:

TP0106 - CYLINDER BEARING ASSY - $222.60

TP0129.SKF - TP0129 SHIFT ACTUATOR
BEARING SKF - $6.64

I ended up buying the bearing, figured I'd try to fix the broken one as a spare part for next time.
