so, let me introduce my self.

Robert, 37 oslo-norway

i bought chassis 16 in september 2019 from uk. Just in time before brexit, this gave me the unique chance to register one of 25streetlegal sr3’s here in norway.

saw my first sr3 on the streets of sweden around 2004, and my words was, ONE DAY! ...one day!

well here it is! After running it alot on trackdays here, nurburgring and zandvoort this summer i was forced to add more power🤣🤣

comming from a background of high HP numbers on my track and street cars, this was no different

turbo there is. Car is going in for molecule destruction period as we speak!

updates comming up ,i will need some help from experienced guys and hopefully something may help others here as well from my experiences!

Hi Robert, I am glad to see you posting about your project!  You have one of the most intriguing SR3's.  For those that don't know Robert his car (SR300016) is very unique in several way.  It was originally delivered from the factor with the Single Vehicle Approval) SVA package so it is able to be street legal.  It is a Tracksport LM version which is quite rare, and it was one of only a few SR3's originally delivered with a Kawasaki engine.  The engine was replace with a Hayabusa a long time ago and he is in the process of adding a Turbocharger to this engine.  If this comes out half as well as some of his past monster car projects this car will be amazing.  I am looking forward to following your Progress. Hopefully @RLM-Dan and others will chime in on this thread.

Charley

For those who is upgrading to a heavy duty output axle, this is a 13t spline that really does not exist in any book. The are usualy 12-14-16t and so on. So to findt the correct formula we had to draw it from scratch. And then wire erode it.

im using my old GDU coupling since not are they only VERY  expencive to buy, but also hard to find with this HD spline. As i know there is only one left in stock at quaifes.. will they produce more? Donno..

difference is about 10mm. You can see the cut out

Wow, loving this. It's so cool that we're beginning to see some "aftermarket" Radicals arrive on the scene. Please keep the story and pictures coming!

ps. If only you'd used a MoTeC M1 ECU... haha, just kidding. We could have compared notes.

@parsonsj hehe if i only knew anything about motec. But emu black is pretty advanced and modern for its price.  I specially love the way you can design your own race dash. Basicly like sitting on photoshop and drawing it;)

i will also make traction system on this car to. Handle that power that will be .

@lunatic, here is the diagram.  Basically the batteries are in series and the battery in the side pod has its own charger and the battery in the engine bay gets charged by the generator on the engine.

@lunatic, very cool! The only problem with fuel level sensors in a race car is that they only work while your not moving...

But I like the idea of having one!

i see where you at, but that all depend on sensor. Many sensors are really quick updating while others take some time, so even if fuel is traveling around you will get a good indication of where youre at..

in my case i still have that foam inside, i just made a passage straight down to fit the sensor, so it will be pretty good in the end i hope hehe

This is a great project!

Could you share details of the fuel level sender? Can it be linked to a stand alone fuel gauge?

I'd like to add one to my car, as we have run out of fuel a couple of times on the road! There isn't even a low fuel level sensor on it.

@stephen

yeah sure! Id you just google WEMA FUEL SENSOR. You will find them straight up! Its even from uk.

my problem is that sensor is working 0-190ohm.. and my analog input works 0-5v

so to convert this i had to ad a 750ohm resistor between 5v and signal cable to read out in volts

now i have operating figure 0.0-0.8v, and i can calibrate this easy.

my ecu is reading correctly but my gauge in racedash is in wrong format. So now we are making a new profile to convert this differently vis. Canbus. So i can add this as % or litres. Not Volt in gauge readings

but if you find this wema sensor you can just connect it directly to a standard fuel gauge for boats

like this one!

Thanks for the info. I've a couple of questions about fitting:

1) Did use a hole saw to cut the opening for the tank, if so, what about the bits of aluminum falling into the tank? Maybe use a vacuum cleaner when cutting, and afterwards on the top of the foam?

2) The sensor has a float which needs clearance from the foam. How did you cut a neat hole through the foam for this?

3) What length of sensor did you use?

It seems ideal, and thanks for showing us this. I assume it could be linked to an AIM dash as well, but I'll keep it separate for simplicity.

@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com About the sensor only working while the car is stationary, the same company offer a box which averages the reading from two sensors (one at either end of the tank), perhaps this is a solution? https://wema.co.uk/collections/accessories/products/dual-station-converter-box
