sr8 oil pressure at idle
whats everyones sr8 oil pressure at idle ? engine warm.......
My experience is with the SR3, so I don't know how transferable it is. But, with the SR3 it takes a while before the oil gets warm enough to keep the pressures in the acceptable range. It is important to make sure the pressure stays below 100psi or you can damage the oil cooler. Once the oil is hot from driving on the track the oil pressure drops a lot when idling. When I first got the car on track by myself I noticed that the low oil pressure light on the Aim dash came on while I was coming into the Pit. I was sure it must be a bad thing, but, I called the Radical dealer that sold me the car and they told me that this is normal after being on track. I don't recall the specific numbers.
Hopefully one of the SR8 drivers will chime in and give you more specific information

I’ve noticed that the low pressure light comes on, regardless of temperature, when the engine drops to idle, which is around 900-950 rpm. As soon as it comes off idle the light goes out.
I can’t recall what the exact pressure is, though. You should be able to see what the alarm setting is in the dash.

thats exactly whats happening , the light comes on at idle only but there is 25-30 psi of pressure which is fine , this must be normal that the light is on at idle only. my car has the old school stack steering wheel system which im not fond of .
Mine is at 20-25 psi at hot idle, with idle set at 1200 rpm. Most SR8s idle at 1600 rpm or so, so it should be slightly higher.

Yes, that is normal. The light is set to warn about low oil pressures while driving at track speeds. It doesn’t have the ability to adjust the warning level to work at idle speeds also.
A bit late on an actual response but I’m sitting here with the car, ready to go on track With the engine at operating temp.
Oil pressure is 20 at an idle of 1400 rpm and my low pressure light is on. As soon as I bump the throttle pressure goes up into operating range.
Low pressure light kicks off at 25.
