Can we create a list of trailers that work for a car with 1.5" of clearance?

@rjbender Did you try loading backwards?

@mikesmith - no, but I think from memory we modeled it on the CAD system at work.... I think the problem was that the front splitter still wanted to 'ground out' as the rear wheels of the car moved up the incline.  It was a couple of years ago now and my memory isn't that good.  I know we didn't actually try it though, because we did all the modelling/design work for the ramps while I waited for the car to be delivered to Tasmania direct from the UK in a 20 foot container (12 weeks!).  Since then its only been loaded front first.  Maybe I should try it the other way.... what's everyone else experienced?

@rjbender I have ~1" of splitter clearance at the front (see pics above), absolutely NWIH it'll go up forwards. It scrapes a bit going backwards, but I could probably jack the trailer a bit more and avoid that if I cared...

@gobble  Do you have the model number for your Triton trailer? Is this all aluminum or wood floor model,

Thanks,

I’m out of town and don’t have any paperwork handy, but I believe it’s the AUT series. It has an aluminum floor.

I bought it from AER Trailer in Waukesha WI. If you call them they probably remember. I had them remove the back fixed gate and cut some slots to insert the aluminum ramps lined up with the Radical wheels.

I believe it’s a discontinued model but they bought a couple of them when they found out it existed.

I went the extremely cheap route and just bought an 18 foot utility trailer. It’s the iron panther 18’ model. I think it was 3200 or so brand new from a dealership in San Jose, CA. It works without scraping the front splitter but the ramps are extremely long. Again, I went cheap and did wooden ramps + the ramps that came with the trailer, but hey that means more money for track days right? I also welded on a plate to hold a winch and tool box for the battery, but other than that it’s a stock trailer.

I put the dimensions of the trailer in CAD to double check that it wouldn’t scrape the front. If anyone has questions about the front scraping let me know and I can plug into my CAD to check.

Attached are a few pics of the ramps and trailer.
