We run at RA in summer and as long as I've had the car the clutch get spongy.  We've replaced the original round seals with the square seals but when we disassemble there are still signs of leaking fluid.  We' drilled the holes in the bell housing per Radicals tech bulletin, directed air to the holes and frequently bleed but still experience sponginess.

Has anyone developed a robust solution?

Back in the day when I worked on hot nasty environments in chemical plants the best seals we used were PTFE seals.  Has anyone tried making square section PTFE seals and had any success?

Also, Tilton make a slave cylinder similar to the one on an SR8.  Anyone been down that rabbit hole?

Thanks

-Andy

Nope. My clutch is fine during the mornings at a track day, but as the day goes on it gets worse and worse to the point that by day's end I can pull the car into my trailer with the clutch on the floor. I'd love to find a better solution then what's currently in the car.

I drained the fluid from my slave cylinder from my '07 SR8 and a bunch of little flecks of rubber came out -- it must be from the O-rings. I'll post up some photos of it tomorrow.

I'm guessing you have the round (O ring) style seals in the slave cylinder.  Radical do make square section seals, which are better, but have not completely cured the problem in my car.  When you get chance, is your slave cylinder Tilton or Radical?

@captainslow

It must be a Radical part. I can't find anything about it that matches any of Tilton's offerings.

It looks like you need the new Tilton slave cylinder upgrade which Radical are offering... It's an easy fit, the hardest part is getting the gearbox out. Once done you should not have any more problems.

We're gradually upgrading all our customer SR8's as we get them in.

Part number: BM0134 - New clutch slave cylinder.

For customers upgrding to this new slave cylinder, customers must change the clutch slave spacer.

Part number: TQ0682 - Spacer
