I think most SR8's come with the medium gear set so around 150, 155 mph flat out which seems ample to me for most tracks I've tried.  Anyhow, If you look at the gear drops on the medium box they do not look like a typical box that follow a geometric progression type curve.  However, Radicals short gear set seems a lot better but then you would be left with a rather low top speed.  Radical does have a different final drive ratio (wheel and pin) that brings the short box up to a 150, 155 mph top speed similar to the medium box but the ratios seem better spaced and closer.

Plus, I did get two high ratio wheel and pins from a supplier and think I can get more. If there is interest we may be interested in overhauling boxes and changing ratios for folks.

Regards

Andy -- do you know if the crown / pinion will fit the Q58? (later model cars use the Q72). It came with a medium gearset which costs me time at Sebring since I hit the 6th gear rev limiter twice during a good lap.

Plus -- my car with the Q58 is down right now due to a badly worn crown / pinion. This might be something in which I'm keenly interested. 🙂

ps. Radical call the Q58 the "non-hypoid" and the Q72 the "hypoid".

John, following our call the parts are different.  I think the later box is the E-72G.
