In my case, there were warning signs. I just didn't notice it. MoTeC's i2 data analysis software has a powerful feature that highlights diagnostics -- it's just that I didn't know that until after the failure! Here's a snippet from last summer. The orange dashes at the top quickly tell you (if you know to look) that something is wrong with the TPS left bank sensor. Red is a failure, and this orange turned red over the weekend.
