I have SR3XX.  When yall service the axles, do you replace the clamps each and every time?  Where can I get spare clamps?  Are they all the same size?  What is the appropriate tool for tightening?

@raider89

I don't know if the current clamps are the same as mine, but I'll bet they are. I found some and bought 50 clamps a couple of years ago, and I'm steadily depleting my stash. I posted here about that source... let me see if I can find it.

As far as tools go, you'll need a special tool. Here's a link to the tool I use at Summit Racing.

Are these clamps supposed to be Oetiker 167 series?  I just removed my clamps, all it shows is Oetiker 89.  It measures 7mm wide.  Just trying to find actual part number for reference and purchase.

@raider89

I replaced mine with a heavy duty worm gear hose clamp. Has worked great.

That is exactly what local race shop uses, worm gear clamps.

However, I am sure hopeful that someone that understands Oetiker part numbers will chime in as I would like to use them instead if I can identify the correct part number.  Unfortunately, the only marking on these clamps is Oetiker 89, which if this is really  16700089, then it seems too large - thus does not make sense.

I'll have a look at my stock of Oetiker clamps. I have 3 sizes to fit the two different SR8 gearboxes (Quaife and Hewland). The big worm gear clamps work fine, but they can be over-tightened, leading to the boot squirming and wearing out. Plus they are heavier, leading to catastrophic loss in lap times. 🙂

The last set of clamps I bought the invoice said they were 88MM.

It seems crazy to me that their part numbers are not stamped on actual clamps.  From their catalog:

So, since my clamps are stamped 89 Oetiker, wonder which one it is for SR3?

Ok, I talked to a guy at Oetiker, he confirmed this is 16700085 part number.

Do you guys have a link to purchase these? I assume the tool is pretty self explanatory.

Belmetric did not carry the correct size, so I talked to them and they added them, stock is due in today.

I thought I was being clever when I ordered some "universal" cv boot clamps from Amazon. A clamp is a clamp, right?  The problem with these is that they are too wide (9mm) to lock the boot into the groove of the housing.  I just ordered some of the Oetiker clamps per above.  Thanks for doing the research on these.
