SR8 Chassis 42 new owner
Greetings!
I have been silently hanging around for 5 or 6 months but wasn't ready to chime in until I actually have a car. This past weekend I picked up chassis 42 from John. I'm very excited to have this and I think John is also happy for me to have this. He had clearly taken great care of it. Got it home safely last night to Kansas City and soon starts all the work. I am excited to make a thread to document everything in detail (it might get painful!) (this will also be about the journey as much as enjoying the end result). For now though I wanted to introduce myself.
Hi @joep, Congratulations and welcome! I am looking forward to seeing your progress. What are your plans for the car?

Hey Charley!
I have all kinds of thoughts on what I'd like to do. From a high level though I will probably see about dropping in a Honda K24 and a Sadev SL82sw. I need to look at the footprint to know if that will work. I plan to control it with Motec M150. The body and chassis could use a little love (in great condition overall just a few small things) and I'll be on the hunt for some parts as well. This is going to be a long process (years I expect).
Sounds like a lot of fun. I know a guy that is getting ready to put a twin (or triple) turbo diesel linked to a Porsche PDK transmission in an SR3 in an effort to break the Pikes Peak Diesel record. I am hoping he will be posting his progress on the Forum once he gets started. You two should compare notes. 🙂

Holy moly I thought my plan was ambitious! I was trying to stay away from torque (even though torque is like cowbell, always want more). Yes definitely would like to compare with someone else that is stuffing things into the car that it wasn't built to accept. I'd also just really like to see that!
I was sorry to see it go, but I'm looking forward to this project, and I love the idea of a K24 installed longitudinally. Lots of RPM, not so much torque.
Joe needs some control arms, shocks, springs, and uprights (parts I had sold already) to get the car to roller state.
Keep us updated!
Welcome Joe!
I am in the Kansas City area as well. Liberty to be exact. I’m in my first year in a Gen 2 SR3. Learned a lot so far, expect to learn a lot more.
Your project sounds interesting. My original plan was to buy an SR5, so really interested in what your doing!
