I might be the last to discover this little tip, but I was stumped when trying to replace a body latch on my SR8. My rivet tool (the nose) was too big to get to and hold the rivet in place. After a few stupid ideas, I cut a short piece 3/16 brake tube I had lying around as a "rivet nose extension".  Worked great!

Good idea,

another option is to stack up washers.  But they go flying around when the rivet pops.

Really appreciate you sharing, I think many of us have been there and find it useful.

One other thing I'd suggest is a pneumatic pop rivet gun.  They don't cost that much and after wearing out several standard guns and finally buying one, I can't believe I didn't buy one sooner.  They make the job sooo much easier.
