So after this we can send our motors to you for a rebuild right :-)
all I can say is that, the cost that a reputable shops charges, they are NOT getting rich!
this is more about personal knowledge in the lump that sits behind me, (and I have a friend in the Suzuki business)
Clutch photos and crank balancer
Dry sump shots, with the SBD system you have to modify a Cometic gasket, the oil pick up fitting is adjustable in height
home made rotor holder, since it is torqued to 87 ft/lbs! It’s hard to hold
I am putting a sensor in the oil plug to measure the oil temp coming out of the engine
I have all the new SS valves and new gen1 springs ready to install in the head, my machine shop said to just lap the new valve with 600 grit, since the seats looked great. I did and they lined up perfect.
Your making great progress! This looks like a really fun project!
@charleyhradicalsportscarregistry-com
I wouldn't call it great progress, as it has been very slow. But that's my fault.
I have to give a huge shout out to Dan at RLM Engines (@rlm-dan) for his support with parts and advice.
More photos of the dry sump
i had to fabricate clutch slave spacers and push rod since the SBD pump is slightly larger than the Radical pump, which I think is supplied by Nova Racing.
all in all, I had to extend everything out 15mm from the wet sump configuration. I still need to harden/temper the pushrod.
Getting closer, just adding some more pictures.
valve lash was adjusted with all the shims changed.
here is my breather, I epoxied in two layers of very fine mesh in place of the flapper valve. This should prevent any abrasive from getting in via the breather.
Thanks for the words guys!
Great to see you are making progress and getting there!
Since we are hunkering down, I thought I would share some photos of my progress of the conversation to a dry sump system. I abandoned the idea of a local company’s dry sump tank, since it didn’t fit with the exhaust installed. the OEM tank is also very close, but it fits.
hope everyone stays healthy,
Thanks for the “Likes” guys,
The company I’m getting my oil hose from is closed until mid April. But I’m okay with that, because there are bigger things to consider.
How are you getting on Graeme?
Because of Covid-19, I have not started the engine yet. I can’t get my oil lines crimped. I bought Brown & Miller hose and fittings mid February, took everything home to fit and set the length. Got that done, then all the shops that can crimp them had to close. They are still closed.
All the circuits are still closed, and I don’t thinks we will be racing anytime soon. But that’s okay, it will happen at some time.
I hope you and your family are healthy, and stay that way. In the end that is what really matters.
It’s Alive!
I finally got all my hoses built, filled it with oil and gave it a garage start. The new electric water pump worked fine.
here is the final piece of the hose puzzle.
more to come as I get this on track.
Well done chap!
