Rear Facing Camera
I was curious if anyone has installed a rear facing camera in thier SR3 and what camera you used and any installation pearls? I have seen the cameras in the GT cars and was wondering if it is worthwhile in the Radical?
I have, using an MXS 1.2 AiM dash. I got the camera from Pegasus Racing (less than $150) and connected it to the "rear video" port on the AiM dash. I activate it with a button on my steering wheel. A single press brings up the rearview, and another press restores the previous screen.
It works great for backing out of paddock parking, or for checking traffic on track. There's no recording... it's strictly designed as a rearview mirror.
I put one in as a rear view mirror.
7" Liliput monitor
take your pick of cameras.
Easiest thing to do is buy a decent backup camera system and adapt it to your car. I upgraded the monitor to make it bright enough in the daylight.
At first I put the camera on the roll hoop, but found that taking a quick glance was not working well as I had to decipher what I was seeing with the wing in the way. I moved it to the rear clam cover to the left of the exhaust and now it works great.
I have been happy with this. Motorcycle based. 2 easy to mount cameras. Records on micro SD card and downloadable via wifi to your phone.
