The fun has started. The motor has 60 track hours on it.

I am looking forward to following your progress.  Post lots of pictures.  Are you able to get replacements for the Radical specific parts?  I’m not sure how many their are in a 1340 but the 1500’s have a lot.  I would think the transmission gears are unique in the 1340 like they are in the 1500.

So far it has come apart as planned.
everything looks stock so far, except the clutch basket, which has the back plate welded in spots, the gear position sensor is a sealed unit.

(Photo’s to come)

I did find that 3 of the pistons had the compression rings almost in alignment. (this one is the best one)

So far the worst of the wear, all the shift forks are worn out. There are HD forks available, not sure they are worth the extra cost. Stronger, yes, but maybe they still wear out just as quick.

the main bearings look great, and the thrust bearing are perfect.

It's hard to tell without feeling the bearing surfaces (do they catch your fingernail when dragging it across?), but they look pretty good I'd say.

I would say they OK, not amazing but certainly not bad.

Looks to be some heat cracking from use.

Number 4 left looks the closest to standard, guess that might be a top bearing?

The bearings don’t have any wear that can be caught by a finger nail, but are worn some. The uppers are on the left.
The plan is to just refresh it, and add a dry sump.  I’m going to order a kit from SBD Motorsports. Im still undecided on the tank  I have the same Bosch electric water pump from an SR3.  But I am having trouble sourcing the information on the water pump on logic from the Life ECU. I have verified the power get there thru the relay by grounding the #22 pin on the ECU connector.
Does the water pump on the SR3 come on when you turn on the master switch, or after you start the engine?

My water pump comes on when I turn on the master switch.  It is very loud.

Same here, water pump on my SR3 turns on with the master even if the ignition is off.

@tmpoquette

Are you sure that is not your paddleshift compressor that you are hearing?

The water pump on the later LIFE cars should not come until the engine is started. Once the engine is turned off (ignition switch) then the water pump will run on for a period of time to help with heat soak.

If you turn the engine off with the master then obviously everything will turn off.

Dan,

I thought that should be the way it works and that makes sense as why it is not coming on when I power up the ECU. Do you know of a way of testing without the engine running (or installed)?

Unfortunately not that I know of.

Easiest way is to look at the Calibration but unfortunately you do not have access to that.

I have had a look at a Gen 1 SR1 Cal that we have and that has the water pump settings activated so you should be ok.
